There is a bright new star on the horizon. Jeremy Sumpter, born on February 5, 1989, in Carmel, California, has spent most of his childhood in a small town in Kentucky. Jeremy now lives in the Los Angeles area with his parents Gary and Sandy, twin sister Jessica, and younger sister Jennifer.
At age six, Jeremy was the youngest child in Kentucky to be accepted into the state's Gifted Arts program. His first grade teacher noticed that if you looked closely at his artwork, all you saw were blobs with very similar colors; but stepping back, it all blended together to make interesting pictures. Some of his artwork was exhibited in a local art gallery. Jeremy also excelled in other areas like spelling, becoming a finalist in the 4th grade spelling bee.
Although he could be seen entertaining large crowds at Central Kentucky's annual autumn festival with his humorous dancing and outgoing personality, Jeremy was not particularly interested in acting when he was younger. He did agree however to try out on the condition that if nothing happened, he would not have to ever try again. Jeremy was entered in the International Model and Talent Association preliminary competition in Lexington, Kentucky, where he was selected to compete at the International Modeling and Talent Association's Los Angeles International Convention. He went on to win "Pre-Teen Male Model of the Year" along with awards in eleven other categories. At the convention, Jeremy signed with a personal manager and in June 2000 relocated to Los Angeles with his family.
Due to Jeremy's fascination with weather and storm clouds, "Twister" has become his favorite movie, so he was thrilled to find out he would be working with one of his favorite actors, Bill Paxton, on his first film "Frailty." Jeremy played the character of Young Adam Meiks, seen throughout the movie during flashbacks of the main characters childhood. "Frailty" is now available on video and DVD. Jeremy next starred in "Just A Dream," a coming of age story for Showtime directed by Danny Glover. Jeremy's interest in surfing paid off when he was cast as "Skeet" in "Local Boys." After a worldwide search, Jeremy was cast as "Peter Pan" has recently returned from Australia where it was filmed.
A country boy at heart, you will rarely catch Jeremy inside watching television. He is very athletic and enjoys most sports including baseball, basketball, hiking, tennis, soccer, river rafting, fishing, camping, snow boarding and surfing. Seemingly fearless, at a young age Jeremy would often trek into the woods near his home climbing trees, and bringing home large snapping turtles to adopt as pets. He is a fan of rap, and classic rock, and admires such actors as Bill Paxton, Adam Sandler, Cameron Diaz, and Tom Hanks. |
